Svínafell er 711 m hátt ys, er norðanmegin við við gamla Sandveg [Skagfirðingaveg] þar sem hann liggur upp með Tröllagili og norðan við Grettishæð á Stórasandi,
Suðurmörk Grímstungu- og Haukagilsheiða eru Langjökull og síðan lína frá Krák á Sandi vestur í Bláfellstjörn, en vesturmörkin eru fram af Víðidalsfjalli um heiðmótaás og til Bláfells norðan Langjökuls og þaðan sjónhending í Hraungarðahorn, þaðan með litlum sveig í mitt Bergárvatn.
Ein af þverám Blöndu er Strangakvísl í austurjaðri Stórasands og rennur hún austan við Svínafell, en upptök hennar er nokkrum kílómetrum framar þar sem hún kemur fremur sem kvísl en lækur undan barði vestan Ölduhrauns og norðvestur af Búrfjallahala.
