History
Kirkja hefur líklega verið á Skagaströnd frá því um 1200. Hún stóð við rætur Spákonufells ofan kauptúnsins og nefndist Spákonufellskirkja. Staðurinn er kenndur við Þórdísi spákonu sem þar bjó til forna og getið er um í nokkrum Íslendingasögum. Kirkjan var bændakirkja allt til ársins 1919 er hún komst í eigu safnaðarins. Síðasta kirkjan á Spákonufelli var timburkirkja sem byggð var 1852 og stóð til 1928. Kirkjugarður hefur frá upphafi kirkuhalds verið á Spákonufelli.
