Höfnin á Skagaströnd við Höfðakaupstað er svo auðgerð, sem verða má, grjót hið ágætasta í Spákonufellsey og höfða svo nærtækt og auðunnið að hvergi á landinu mun verða jafnað við. Eins verð ég þó að geta, er ég hefi ekki heyrt nefnt í ræðum né riti um hafnargerð á Skagaströnd. — Það verður að hlaða garð norðan við Hraundalsárós og út í Árbakkastein því til varnar að áin beri sand og leir norður í höfnina frekar en orðið er. Er það örstutt og hrægrunnt, og hlyti sá garður ekki við auka, er nokkru næmi um kostnað við gerð hafnarinnar.
