Bóndi og kvæðamaður í Hlíð á Vatnsnesi og síðar á Hvammstanga. Var í Hvammi, Hvammstangahr., V-Hún. 1957. Fæddur 26. desember 1873 í Holtastaðakoti í Austur-Húnavatnssýslu. Stemmurnar urðu að vera háar yfirleitt. Þær voru oft kveðnar í baðstofum, þar sem 2—4 stúlkur þeyttu rokka. Þá urðu menn að rífa sig upp fyrir rokkhljóðið til þess að orðaskil heyrðust. Hann mun oft hafa átt við fátækt að búa um dagana. Hann byggði bæinn Brautarholt á Blönduósi 1917: Erlendarhúsi 1916:
