G. Frímann Hilmarsson fæddist að Fremstagili í Langadal 26.2. 1939. Hann lést á Heilbrigðistofnuninni á Sauðárkróki þann 3.12. 2009 síðastliðinn. Foreldrar hans voru Hilmar Arngrímur Frímannsson og Jóhanna Birna Helgadóttir. Systkini Frímanns eru Halldóra, Anna Helga, Valgarður og Hallur. Eftirlifandi eiginkona Frímanns er Kolbrún Jenný Sigurjónsdóttir. Börn Frímanns eru Hulda Birna, f. 1962; Steinunn Ásgerður, f. 1963; Kristján, f. 1967 lést 1999; Kristín, f. 1969, og Hilmar Arngrímur, f. 1973. Barnabörn Frímanns eru nítján og langaafabörnin þrjú. Frímann var lögreglumaður en vann við ýmis störf á sjó og landi. Hann var mikið náttúrubarn og var hestamennska hans aðaláhugamál. Útför Frímanns fer fram frá Sauðárkrókskirkju í dag, laugardaginn 12. desember, og hefst athöfnin kl. 14.
