Nýbýli stofnað 1948 úr hálfu Smyrlabergslandi. Bærinn stendur skammt vestan Svínvetningabrautar suðaustan í Smyrlabergsbungunni. Túninu hallar að þjóðveginum. Landið nær frá Laxárvatni austur að Blöndu. Við Blöndu eru grónar valllendiseyrar, svo tekur við votlendisræma, þá brekkurnar, hólarnir og loks mýrar meðfram þjóðveginum, nú framræstar og að hluta ræktað tún. Beitilandi óskipt við Smyrlaberg. Íbúðarhús byggt 1948, 342 m3. Fjós fyrir 10 gripi. Fjárhús yfir 200 fjár. Hesthús yfir 12 hross. Hlöður 528 m3. Geymsla 187 m2. Tún 25 ha. Veiðiréttur í Laxá á Ásum og Laxárvatni.
