Lýður Brynjólfsson fæddist á Ytri-Ey á Skagaströnd í Austur-Húnavatnssýslu 25. október 1913. Hann lést 12. mars síðastliðinn. Útför Lýðs fór fram frá Landakirkju í Vestmannaeyjum laugardaginn 16. mars.

Legal status
Lýður stundaði nám við Unglingaskólann á Blönduósi og Höskuldsstöðum 1932-1934, við Héraðsskólann á Laugarvatni 1934-1935 og lauk kennaraprófi 1937. Hann stundaði nám við Dansk Slöjdlærerskole í Kaupmannahöfn og lauk þaðan prófi 1938. Lýður hlaut iðnbréf í húsasmíðaiðn 1957.
Functions, occupations and activities
Hann var kennari við Barnaskólann að Búðum í Fáskrúðsfirði 1937-1939, síðan við Barnaskóla Vestmannaeyja 1939-1964. Lýður var skólastjóri við Iðnskólann í Vestmannaeyjum 1964-1978. Lýður tók virkan þátt í pólitísku starfi. Starf hans með Alþýðubandalagsfélagi Vestmannaeyja var heilladrjúgt og margar góðar hugmyndir hans nýttust þar og urðu margar hverjar bæjarfélaginu til heilla.

Eftirlifandi eiginkona Lýðs er Auður Guðmundsdóttir, f. 27. jan. 1918. Foreldrar hennar voru Guðmundur Ólafsson, vélstjóri í Vestmannaeyjum, og kona hans Soffía Þorkelsdóttir.
