Sveinsstaðahreppur var hreppur í Austur-Húnavatnssýslu fram til ársloka 2005. Hreppurinn var kenndur við Sveinsstaði í utanverðum Vatnsdal. Fólksfjöldi 1. desember 2005 var 92.

  1. nóvember 2004 samþykktu íbúar sveitarfélagsins sameiningu við Bólstaðarhlíðarhrepp, Svínavatnshrepps og Torfalækjarhrepp og gekk hún í gildi 1. janúar 2006. Nýja sveitarfélagið hlaut nafnið Húnavatnshreppur í fyrstu kosningunum í sameinuðu sveitarfélagi 10. desember 2005.
