Björn Einarsson, Blönduósi, eigandi Selvíkur og Bjarni Ó. Frímannsson Efri-Mýrum boðuðu til fundar 16. febrúar, varðandi að stofna félag um kartöflurækt í Selvík. Í stjórn voru kosnir Kristinn Magnússon, Bjarni Ó. Frímannsson og Páll Geirmundsson. Var Selvík keypt af Birni Einarssyni í apríl 1936 og hafin útleiga á blettum fyrir þá sem vildu rækta þar kartöflur. Árið 2006 tók Ungmennafélagið Hvöt við rekstri Selvíkurgarðsins og sér um alla jarðvinnslu og mælingar á blettum þeim sem beðið hefur verið um til ræktunar.
