Árið 1880 voru sett lög um stjórn safnaðarmála og skipan sóknar- og hérðasnefnda. Sóknanefnd Spákonufellssóknar var stofnuð 1880 og breyttist í sóknarnefnd Hólaneskirkju þegar kirkjan fluttist niður í kauptúnið og var vígð 1928. Fyrstu sóknarnefndina skipuðu: Björn Jónsson, bóndi í Háagerði 1880-1884, Friðrik Möller, Skagaströnd 1880-1883, Sigurður Finnbogason, bóndi á Sæunnarstöðum 1880-1887
