Knútur Valgarð Berndsen fæddist í Syðri-Ey á Skagaströnd 25. október 1925. Hann lést á Heilbrigðisstofnuninni á Blönduósi 31. ágúst 2013. Útför Knúts verður gerð frá Blönduóskirkju í dag, 6. september 2013, og hefst athöfnin kl. 14.
