Húsið er byggt af Karli Guðmundssyni (1901-1983) og Gunnlaugu Hannesdóttur (1920-2012)
Mikill jarðhiti er á svæðinu og réð það miklu um staðarvalið en Karl nýtti sér hann til upphitunar. Hann setti þarna á fót bílaverkstæði í samvinnu við Björn Jónasson frænda sinn og starfaði Karl þar alla tíð.
Húsið Stendur gegnt sundlauginni á staðnum.
